Beware of QVC Customer Reviews and SBC Collagen Gel

Shopping for specifically a good cosmetic moisturizer with collagen, I found SBC Collagen Gel online at QVC UK; it was inexpensive at the price of £19.50 plus shipping for a huge 500 ml bottle of pink gel. I was a bit suspicious with its pink color as I knew that this could mean it contained ingredients of low quality, but when I proceeded to read the reviews on the QVC UK’s website I found it got consistent five star ratings from women with mature skin. These women raved about its moisture abilities and with its affordable price they could use it on the whole body.
I received the product in the mail from QVC UK and upon first application smelt a strong scent of alcohol combined with a matronly antiseptic perfume reminding me of the inside of a hospital. I immediately read the ingredients and sure enough Alcohol Denat is second listed. Here is the entire list of ingredients below:
Aqua (water), Alcohol Denat, Glycerin, Cocamidopropy Betaine, Yeast Extract, Acrylates/C 10-30 Alky acrylate, crosspolymer, Triethanolamine, Polysorbate-20, Parfum, C.1. 17200, Benzyl Alcohol, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Limonene, Linalool.
I research about the ingredient of alcohol added into cosmetics and found that if it is listed in the first five ingredients of the product then there is a likely probability for dryness and even irritation. Trying the SBC Collagen Gel I did find it dying and am now suspicious of the customer reviews written on QVC UK’s website. Needless to say QVC UK said they would send me a return label to return the product without a postal charge. This is reassuring but hopefully I will get a money credit for this product as I no longer have the packaging.
